Hurricane Preparedness ...
... Or, Get Ready for Another Blowjob (and not a fun one, either - think Ann Coulter giving you a hummer).
Here in Florida (also known as Flori-duh, America's Strapon, and the Soft Dangly Bits of the USA), it's That Time again. From June 1 to November 30 it's hurricane season. Yee ha.
I had never lived through a major hurricane until last year, and the experience of having three of the bastards go practically over my head within two months was quite enough. So I took the opportunity to get enough plywood and other items to make sure that I won't get caught with my pants down again.
Charley and his two sisters, Frances and Jeanne, blew some of the paint off the trim on my house, along with some shingles. Easy to repair, and not very expensive. A friend of mine experienced Ivan, and she said that the damage there was beyond her ability to describe. But she made it through largely unscathed as well.
Others are not so lucky. There are still quite a few blue tarps in my area, and others have been living in the same FEMA trailers for nearly a year. It's sad that these people are still waiting for the insurance companies and the Gummint to stop being assholes and allow the victims to get on with their lives.

Hey, I experienced a couple of those hurricanes too. I'm on the east coast of Fla. an hour north of WPB, where are you? Just last week got the painting done on the inside of my house. Most of our shingles left us during Frances and Jeanne took the rest, ergo water inside the house. Now we can finally order the new carpet. We had to cut our parts of the carpet after all the water damage. Didn't seem intelligent to put down new carpet until the contractors finished painting the ceiling. No "duh" in this Floridian. LOL

Obviously not all Floridians fit that - I apologize for the sweeping generalization.
I live smack in the middle of the Peninsula, between Tampa and Orlando.
