"Foreign Affairs" Article - Worth A Read!

I just finished reading this from an upcoming issue of Foreign Affairs:
http://www.foreignaffairs.org/20060501faessay85301/kevin-woods-james-lacey-williamson-murray/saddam-s-delusions-the-view-from-the-inside.html

It's an illuminating look inside the Hussein regime's inner circle and military establishment from the Iran-Iraq War up to the fall of Baghdad in 2003. And it also shows the negative effects of living in a bubble where no one is brave enough to tell you the truth or even hint that there is bad news.

That book I mentioned, The Fall of Baghdad, talks about some of that too. It mentions that one of Saddam's sons, forget which one, was a total asshole but no one would tell Saddam how bad he was. The kid was taking equipment from the hospital to use in a facility he was starting. When Saddam finally found out, he made the kid stop.

Thank you for the morning haiku you left this morning at Morning Martini :)

You're welcome. Sometimes you pause to witness a moment of quiet beauty. Of course, I have to write about it, and I sometimes use haiku as mental exercise.
